I have had horses for 20+ years. In that time I have boarded and/or worked at many different farms. Cedarwind is by far the BEST place I have been at. Sarah looks after and cares for my horses the same as she does her own. She has been incredibly helpful with my mare who has chronic lameness due to arthritis in both identifying and making adjustments to decrease the severity of her lameness. She has also saved me much stress with my son's horse and his acute lameness issue which is since resolved. My son enjoys going to Cedarwind and he looks forward to his lessons with Mikey. In addition to lessons, he enjoys following her around to "help". In every aspect, Cedarwind is the best barn experience for myself, my son, and our horses. - Becca P.

I found Sarah and Cedarwind when I was desperately searching for a new place to board my 27 year old Arab.  Moe’s condition had deteriorated rapidly over the prior 2 months at his “other” barn.  He was seriously underweight, and had multiple open wounds from being chased off his food by younger, stronger horses.  His condition was grave, to say the least.

From the moment we arrived, Sarah’s concern for Moe’s well-being was evident.  He was immediately put in a warm, dry stall with plenty of hay, and Sarah spent time with Moe just to reassure and comfort him.  The vet saw him the next morning, and tests were done so his care could be tailored specifically to his needs.  Moe required warm mash feedings every 2 hrs, and constant monitoring for quite some time.   Sarah did all of this with a smile on her face, and a cheerful attitude, all the while showering Moe with love and attention.  I knew that Moe was in very capable, caring hands, and that all his needs would be met.  Thanks to Sarah’s competent care, and watchful eye, Moe returned to his spunky, sassy self and was soon causing all sorts of mischief much to the delight of all of us.  Sarah gave me my goofy, ornery “Moe-ster” back, and I will forever be grateful to her and her wonderful staff.

Boarding at Cedarwind is like being part of a family.  Sarah’s exceptional knowledge, along with the love and passion she has for these wonderful animals, make Cedarwind a very unique and special place for horses and their owners.  I feel blessed to be at such a wonderful barn, and can’t imagine boarding my horse anyplace else. - Elke M.

This is a wonderful place! I brought my mare Annie & her foal Drogo on recommendation of my trainer and my veterinarian.

Drogo was 9 weeks old and ordered strict stall rest and continuous care after hospitalization at the University of Minnesota. Sarah did an amazing job of keeping him and Annie calm, and bringing Drogo back to good health. He returned home in beautiful condition. Another thing, this baby horse has the most amazing temperament. You would never know that he had been sickly. He is outgoing, brave, and inquisitive. I owe much of this to his months at Cedarwind. Sarah treated Drogo as her own. I would never worry knowing my horses are under Sarah's care. - John & Amy G.

When my horse Belle had an injury that breached her hock joint I was devastated.  After a week at the U of MN she arrived at Cedarwind Performances Horses (CPH) to heal under Sarah's watchful eye and competent care.  The joint did not get infected, the stitches over the hock joint were all removed by the vet (i.e., stayed intact) and Belle didn't lose her mind after spending 80 days in a stall (she'd never been stalled before.)  Administering meds, applying bandages that the U vets were uber-impressed with, and hand walking toward the latter stages were all masterfully handled.   I will be eternally grateful to CPH for Belle's complete recovery. - Marybeth B.

Sarah and Cedarwind answered questions I didn't even know I had!  What I most appreciated about Sarah was her ability to take things in stride and her flexibility in changing the plan on the fly to accommodate an evolving treatment plan.  Horse won't eat the feed with all the supplements?  No problem, Sarah futzed with it until she found the magical palatable cocktail.  Horse develops an abscess on top of everything else?  No problem, Sarah whips out her supplies and has that abscess soaking within 10 minutes.  Now Horse is going stir crazy stall bound with a wrapped abscess?  No problem, Sarah crafts a water-tight bootie to walk through the puddles to the indoor arena for a hand walk!!

After spending two very stressful weeks at the U and feeling on a daily basis that I had no idea what was coming next, Sarah's cool, collected calm was just the thing I needed.  I was finally comfortable going to sleep at night knowing that if anything came up, Sarah would handle it!

I highly recommend Sarah and Cedarwind!  The quality of care, the environment, and the friendly staff and boarders made our rehab experience as pleasant as could be! - Elizabeth B.

I have had the unfortunate NEED for rehab services. I have had two equines that were extremely ill. Being that both adults in the household work full time, we decided that it was in our animals best interest to seek a rehab facility. Choosing Cedarwind Performance Horses was one of the best decisions we made for our animals. The care given to the animals was exactly what was prescribed. The care givers were very through and went well above and beyond what was required. I would never take my animals to any other rehab facilities. It was wonderful knowing that my animals were getting superior care, even when I was unable to provide it myself! I was able to rest at night knowing they were in experienced and knowledgeable hands! THANK YOU CPH for all you did for me and my animals! - Leah L.
